Purple RestorePremier Hybrid Mattress

Owen Poole from CNET highlights the Purple RestorePremier Hybrid Mattress as a uniquely soft and responsive option within Purple’s lineup, especially suited for side sleepers seeking maximum pressure relief. He praises the mattress’s distinctive GelFlex Grid material and innovative foam-tipped Cool Flex coils, which enhance motion isolation and temperature regulation. The review conveys a generally positive and thoughtful tone, appreciating the mattress’s buoyant, gel-like feel and improved edge support, though noting the edge can feel overly firm and “repelling.” Poole also points out the mattress’s considerable weight and high price, recommending potential buyers wait for holiday discounts. While the tested model was a discontinued soft version, the current RestorePremier is estimated to be medium-firm, which may not suit all side sleepers. The review balances enthusiasm for Purple’s unique materials and comfort with practical caveats about firmness, cost, and portability, offering a nuanced perspective for shoppers interested in a premium, distinctive hybrid mattress.

Dave Johnson from Forbes praises the Purple RestorePremier Hybrid Mattress for its unique GelFlex Grid technology, which delivers a distinctive, cushiony feel that balances softness with responsive support. He highlights the mattress’s excellent pressure relief, especially for side and back sleepers, and commends its superior temperature regulation and motion isolation—attributes that set it apart from typical memory foam or hybrid beds. Johnson appreciates the consistent edge-to-edge support and the mattress’s ease of movement, making it comfortable for various sleeping positions and activities. While he notes some concern about potential long-term compression of the foam edge support, overall, he finds the mattress durable and well-constructed, backed by a solid 10-year warranty. His enthusiasm is evident as he describes the RestorePremier as a “revelation” and expresses reluctance to switch to another mattress. The review is balanced, acknowledging that the soft model may not suit stomach sleepers and that personal preferences vary, but ultimately offers a strong, enthusiastic recommendation for those seeking a soft, supportive hybrid mattress.

Janae McKenzie from House Beautiful highlights the Purple RestorePremier Hybrid Mattress as an impressively comfortable and innovative sleep solution, especially for side sleepers seeking cooling and pressure relief. She praises its unique GelFlex Grid and individually wrapped coils, which combine to create a soft yet supportive feel that adapts responsively to movement, reducing tossing and turning. The mattress excels in airflow and temperature regulation, addressing common overheating issues. While McKenzie notes the mattress’s distinctive grid texture requires an adjustment period and its weight can make moving it challenging, these minor drawbacks do not overshadow its benefits. She also appreciates the reinforced edge support and the mattress’s compatibility with standard bed frames without needing a box spring. Overall, McKenzie conveys genuine enthusiasm for the RestorePremier, describing the sensation as “floating with no effort” and endorsing it as a worthwhile investment for those willing to acclimate to its unique design.

Derek Hales from NapLab assesses the Purple Restore Premier Hybrid Mattress as a solid but somewhat underwhelming specialty mattress, especially given its premium price. While the mattress excels in cooling performance, edge support, and boasts an extremely fast material response—tied for the quickest rebound tested—it falls short in key areas like motion transfer, which is notably high, and comfort layer thickness, which is below average compared to competitors. The medium-firm feel (6/10) offers balanced support and pressure relief, but the mattress’s overall performance ranks in the lower 28% of tested mattresses, making it difficult to justify over the less expensive Purple Restore Plus, which delivers similar comfort. Unique insights include detailed temperature and motion transfer metrics, as well as a critical look at Purple’s recent return policy changes, which now impose costly fees. Overall, the review conveys a cautiously positive tone, highlighting strengths while clearly outlining trade-offs and value concerns.

Charli Penn from Apartment Therapy praises the Purple RestorePremier Hybrid Mattress for delivering exceptional pressure relief and support, especially benefiting those with chronic back pain. She highlights its unique combination of firm yet luxurious comfort, advanced cooling technology via Purple’s GelFlex Grid, and a moisture-wicking cover that keeps hot sleepers comfortable throughout the night. The mattress’s independently responsive coils and edge support system also make it ideal for couples, minimizing motion transfer. Paired with the Purple Premium Plus Smart Base, which offers lumbar support, anti-snoring features, and quiet massage functions, the sleep experience is notably enhanced. Penn emphasizes the value of thoughtful mattress shopping aligned with personal needs rather than budget alone, appreciating Purple’s premium options and generous trial period. While the price is premium, she finds the investment worthwhile for improved sleep quality and overall comfort, making this mattress a standout choice for those seeking both support and cooling in a hybrid design.

Anvita Reddy from Popsugar highlights the Purple RestorePremier Hybrid Mattress as a standout choice for those seeking effective pressure relief and spinal support. She expresses genuine enthusiasm, sharing how the mattress alleviated her back, shoulder, and posture pains, enabling restful, pain-free sleep. The review emphasizes Purple’s unique GelFlex Grid Technology, which adapts to body contours and promotes airflow, delivering both support and cooling comfort. Reddy appreciates the mattress’s medium firmness, noting it suits sleepers who prefer balanced support rather than cloud-like softness, and recommends the softer RestorePlus Hybrid for those wanting a plusher feel. She also points out practical considerations, such as the need for a compatible foundation and the brand’s generous trial, return policies, and added perks like free sheets and white-glove delivery. Overall, the review conveys a warm, confident endorsement, framing the RestorePremier as a worthwhile investment for anyone prioritizing pain relief, spinal alignment, and breathable comfort.
